Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky situation, whether it is stuck on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, gum eventually transforms into a smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and clients walking into a store or office will step on it and track it in all over the carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.
We are proud to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in El Cajon CA. Find information on our service below:
The best methods for removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it has not penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to get it off by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping it off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a workable consistency compared to a gooey and sticky mess. Once the chewing gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper directly under the gum residue. Next we move the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above process is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is smashed down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we don’t use high pressure because that could damage the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses more pressure than necessary to safely clean concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our chewing gum removal service.
To completely remove gum from parking lots and other commercial surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing equipment and powerful soaps that allow us to clean the concrete without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure, we safely remove chewing gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our process will also destroy bacteria and viruses that sometimes found in gum on concrete.
By hiring El Cajon Pressure Washing for regular maintenance cleaning at your location, your commercial property will have better curb appeal and all gum removal issues will be dealt with! You will also ensure less damage to carpets and flooring while making your storefront much more inviting to clientele.
